The Wolves(2) quickly put 2 points on the score board in the first period. With 3:14 left on clock, Austin Hanson assisted by Brayden Watts added one for the dragons. The period ended 2-1 Wolves(2).

The Wolves got the best of the second period by adding another point. The intensity of the game started to increase although the Dragons were unable to score. The second period ended 3-1 Wolves(2). Goalie, Grant Campbell had a fantastic game and was focused and determined to not let the Wolves (2) score anymore. And …he did just that!

The Dragons started the 3rd period on fire. It was time for the team to bring it together and get victory over the game. At 12:07 on the clock, Brayden Watts scored with a powerful slap shot and again at 8:18. With 3:47 on the clock, Brayden scores a hat trick, on a breakaway, bringing the score 4-3 Dragons. With a minute left, the Wolves pulled their goalie to add an extra offensive player. Austin Hanson took advantage of that opportunity and added one last goal for the Dragons. The game ended 5-3 Dragons.

The First period took everyone by surprise with the Wolves putting 3 points on the score board. The Dragons held them at 3 points to end the period.

During the second period, the Dragons came back to life putting 3 goals on the board. At 9:57, Austin Hanson scored assisted by Brayden Watts and Tarek Itani. Michael Lopez then put one in assisted by James Baker. The game was picking up in Penalties, for both teams, as the Wolves scored 2 more points on Penalty plays. With 2:12 left on the clock, James Baker had a nice powerful slap shot to net where Jalen Wallace tipped it in to end second period 5-3 Wolves.

The third period became even more intense with aggression, passion, and hard play from both teams. The Wolves quickly scored at 13:50 on clock. Bringing score 6-3 Wolves. The Dragon boys knew it was time to step up the team work and the play on the ice.  Austin Hanson earned the well deserved  Team Hat! At 9:28, Austin Hanson added one for the Dragons and at 6:44, Austin added another to the board assisted by Jalen Wallace.  With 2:24 left on the clock, Austin made a pass to Brayden Watts bringing game to a tie 6-6. The game ended with a final score of 6-6.

The OC Mites got on the boards first with two goals in the first period. Early in the second, Dante Petrini started the Dragons’ scoring flurry. Following Petrini’s goal, Matthew Perri picked up a rebound from Kyle Kolthoff and tied the game. Landon Riley followed just seconds later with a goal that tipped in off the goalie’s skate, giving the Dragons the go-ahead goal. Petrini and Perri ended the period with one more a piece, giving both players two goals in the game.

In the third period, Coleton Barulich tapped one in after a scramble in front of the net. With just 41 seconds to go, Jacob Clanahan netted the Dragons’ seventh of the game. The OC Mites got one more in with just 8 seconds left on the clock, making the final score 7-3.

The Dragons Squirts are back Saturday, February 4^th at 3:15 for their final regular season home game.

Bakersfield Dragon Pee Wee’s beat, undefeated team, Valencia Express 7-6 on January 22nd in Valencia. The boys were ready to play some serious hockey the moment they stepped onto the ice. A TEAM is how I would sum up the game. The boys really worked hard together to win this intense game.

The first period started off right away with a nice pass sequence from Sawyer Robinson to Austin Hanson, to Brayden Watts with a goal. Express came right back to put 3 goals on the board within the first 10 minutes. At 4:09 on the clock Brayden Watts scores, assisted by Jalen Wallace, and with 2:52 left on clock Brayden Watts put one more in the net making a hat trick in first period. The period ended  3-3.

2011/2012 Bakersfield Dragon Pee Wee Team

The Dragons took charge of the second period pretty quickly. Brayden Watts put another point on the board and Tyler Mends soon followed with a nice goal assisted by Austin Hanson. Express slipped one more goal in bringing score 5-4 Dragons. Jalen Wallace took control of the puck passing up to Jo Jo Velasquez with a goal and Brayden Watts added his 5th goal of the day at 12.1 seconds left on clock ending second period 7-4 Dragons.

Valencia Express fought back hard in the 3rd putting 2 more points on the board. The Dragons defensive team (Michael Lopez, James Baker, Jacob Chaddick, Blake Olson, & Tarek Itani) and Goalie, Grant Campbell, held the ice down ending game 7-6 Dragons.  A congrats to Michael Lopez for earning the game hat and a HUGE well deserved “great game” to every single Dragon Pee Wee.  The team played hard, communicated, and skated to win. GO DRAGONS!

The Dragons Squirts fell to the California Golden Bears Sunday morning in Burbank. The final score was 9-3.

Neither team tallied a point in the first period, but the second belonged to the Golden Bears, as they scored five unanswered goals. The Dragons fought back in the 3^rd and got within two points of the Bears. Logan Mears got the Dragons on the board as he tapped one in right in front of the net. Chaz Catallo followed with two back-to-back goals. The rally by the Dragons was not enough, however, as the Bears finished the period by netting four more, making the final score 9-3.

The Squirts have their final home game of the regular season Saturday, February 4^th, at 3:15 pm at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center. They will host the Wildcats 2 of Anaheim.

This past weekend found the Dragon Bantam team in another “back to back” situation with a game at home on Saturday and one in Oxnard on Sunday.

The Saturday game started out slow against a solid opponent, the Jr. Reign.  The Reign jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.  The Dragons would strike back quickly in the 2nd period, 45 seconds to be exact with goal by Patrick Willey off of  an assist by Collin Walker.  The Reign would strike again making the score 3-1.  The Dragons would stay determined to fight back and were able to score two goals in less than a minute apart.  The second goal was scored by John Grealish and the assist was awarded to Aidan Hughes.  Jayce Scott would not be denied less than a minute later with a great feed by Tristan Mends.

The 2nd period would end with a 3-3 tie.  THe 3rd period was back and forth until the Reign was able to capitalize on a power play, making it 4-3.  The Dragons “scored” a goal from a center ice dump by Taylor Jolly on net, but the goal was called off for a delayed offside.  The Dragons did not let this stop their determination to score and they soon did with a final goal by Demetrius Strategos with an assist by Taylor Jolly.  WIth the score tied 4-4, the Dragons were able to hold off a 5 on 3 to keep the score even to the end.  Garret Kingsbury got a workout with 42 saves.

Sunday, the Dragons found themselves against another solid team, the Riptide.  The Riptide was victorious in a previous tournament game and the Dragons were determined to settle the score.  The Dragons hit the game flat and the Riptide was able to capitalize late in the first to put them ahead 1-0.

The Dragons soon found their legs and began to dominate the ice. They constantly won the individual battles and positioning was solid.  Brandon St Louis tied the game off of a great pass from John Grealish.  John Grealish was just getting warmed up.  Another great assist from John to Collin Walker put the Dragons ahead for good.  Second period ended with a Dragon lead, 2-1.

Brandon St Louis was the only one to find the back of the net in the third period of of a great assist from Tristan Mends.  Final score 3-1, the Dragons with the win.  Garret Kingsbury had another outstanding game with 34 saves.  All in all it was a successful weekend for the Bantams.

The Bakersfield Dragon Pee Wee team played the La Jolla Jaguars Saturday, January 14th. The team came into this game ready for a win after their first loss of the season the prior weekend.

The first period demonstrated strong team play with good passes. Sawyer Robinson scored first goal with a sweet break away followed by a nice pass sequence  from James Baker, Brayden Watts, to Jalen Wallace. That brought score 2-0 Dragons. Austin Hanson adds a goal and then an assist to Sawyer Robinson. Michael Lopez scores 5th goal. Goalie, Grant Campbell, held net down to end first period 5-0 Dragons

Jaguars were hungry to get on the board and added 3 goal in the 2nd period. Michael Lopez assisted to Sawyer Robinson for a goal for the Dragons at 6:04. Final score at end of 2nd period was 6-3 Dragons.

With 7:26 on the clock, in the 3rd period, Brayden Watts assists Jalen Wallace bringing score 7-3. The Jaguars also added 1 more point to end game  at 7-4 Dragons.

The Dragons played fair with no penalties throughout entire game.  Good game Dragons! The Pee Wee’s will travel to Valencia on Sunday, January 22nd, to play the Express.

The Bakersfield Dragons Squirts beat the La Jolla Jaguars 1 at home Saturday, January 7^th. The final score was 6-4 in favor of the Dragons.

The Dragons and the Jaguars took turns taking the lead through the first two periods. The Jaguars got on the boards first, but Logan Mears got the equalizer on a play that sent him slamming into the postjust after the puck crossed the blue line.

Dante Petrini scored next for the Dragons, but the lead would last less than one minute, as the Jaguars got back-to-back goals, giving them the 3-2 advantage going into the second.

Matthew Perri tied it up once again early in the second, but the Jaguars got the go-ahead goal just minutes later. Late in the third, Chaz Catallo got his sixth of the season for Dragons, and the two teams ended the period in a 4-4 tie.

The Dragons kept the Jaguars off the boards in the third, but managed two more points for themselves. Perri and

Mears each got their second of the game in the final period, giving the Dragons the 6-4 win.

The Dragons are on the road next weekend to face the West Valley Wolves.

The Bakersfield Dragon Pee Wees take first loss of the season against the Jr. Ducks 1.

The Ducks started off the first period hungry to place points on the board. Within the first nine minutes if the game, the Ducks had placed 2 goals into the net. Tyler Mends had a nice shot on net putting one on the board for the Dragons. The Ducks put one more goal on board ending the first period 3-1 Ducks.

Second Period was another tough period. The Dragons played hard and were able to put another point on the board. Michael Lopez had a nice pass to Austin Hanson who laced the net.. The Ducks were able to add 4 more points ending the second period 7-2.

The Ducks added another point in the 3rd period at 8:35 on clock. Brayden Watts added one last goal on net with 3:15 on the clock. Game ended 8-3.

The Dragons will be in La Jolla on January 14th to play the Jaguars. Good Luck dragons!
